Mike Proffitt, a native of Hampton Roads, continues to entertain fans in and around his hometown of Virginia Beach, VA, while reaching out nationally and internationally through distribution of his recorded projects and through internet media outlets.

Starting his career as a solo acoustic singer/songwriter, Mike began building his fan base as far back as the early 80’s. After writing a repertoire of original songs, and having tested them in the local acoustic clubs, he recorded his first all original CD in 1996 (”If You’re Scared…Say You’re Scared). On the tail of that project, he put together a band and was offered opportunities to be a supporting act for bands; the Doobie Brothers, The Guess Who, and others, who were passing through Hampton Roads on National Tours.
His follow up studio project in 1999 (“Versatility”) allowed Mike to focus on writing songs which were stylistically diverse for a solo songwriter’s album. Returning to his acoustic roots, he performed for the last 15 years with long time bassist Dana Silvercloud, and the two have recorded a two-volume CD set of cover songs. Each disk includes 10 cover songs along with new renditions of previous studio originals, and 1 previously unrecorded original.

Mike has expanded his performances to festivals and special events and most recently has shared the stage with acts like REO Speedwagon and Kenny Loggins. Returning to his solo singer songwriter roots, he now entertains locals and tourists on a weekly basis, and has expanded his travels to several wineries in Western Virginia. He has become known as one of the longest running acoustic based acts in Hampton Roads.
